Best time to buy a TV in the UK
TVs are one of the most heavily discounted things you can buy, if you time it right. Here's how to avoid paying full price.
When prices drop
- Black Friday (late November): usually the biggest TV discounts of the year.
- Spring: manufacturers launch new ranges, and last year's models get cleared out cheaply.
- Before big sporting events: retailers often run TV promotions.
Every TV on our site shows its own price history, so you can see whether today's price is genuinely low or just a "sale" sticker.
OLED, QLED or LED?
- OLED: the best contrast and deep blacks. Ideal for films in darker rooms.
- QLED / Mini-LED: brighter, great for sunny living rooms and daytime TV.
- Standard LED: the budget choice. Fine for bedrooms and kitchens.
Quick checklist
- Size: sitting about 1.5x the screen size away is comfortable for 4K.
- Gaming: look for HDMI 2.1, 120Hz and VRR if you have a PS5 or Xbox Series X.
- Sound: thin TVs often have weak speakers, so budget for a soundbar.
- New vs ex-display: we only list new TVs. Ex-display stock can have marks or a shorter warranty.
